Unique + Connected Series
One morning in 2022 Josh was drinking his coffee and preparing for the day when an idea came to him. What if he could make a frame and collect sawdust throughout the process that could then be incorporated into his own paper, and then use that paper for printing one of his own images? The concept resonated with him deeply.
In a world that is so fractured, these pieces remind us that each of us is unique AND we are all deeply connected. We do not have to sacrifice the integrity of the part for the sake of the whole, nor do we need to forget the cycles and interconnectedness of life in the name of individualism. The sum of our one shared life is greater than all of the individual parts, and these pieces call us to remember that reality.
In a nutshell
Capture the Sawdust
I start by making the frame, and in that process capture the sawdust for later use.
Hand-make Custom Paper
Later, I make my own paper from recycled materials and infuse that sawdust into the paper.
Reunite the Elements
The end result is a customized piece that is entirely unique and connected, printed on paper derived from the frame.
